Yellowstone Bound
The long awaited day ( May 4th 2016) finally came. Years of planning, talking about it and planning some more, finally came to fruition. Alaska! The trip of a lifetime.
En route to our 49th State requires many driving days. In order to achieve this goal, we planned to first visit Yellowstone National Park. It will be our first trip to this park and decided to spend a week exploring its beauty. Getting there will take 4 nights on the road.
First day was uneventful and we spent the night in Nebraska City, NE. On the second day, we continued the trek westward and spent the night in Ogallala, NE. Third night, we reached beautiful Wyoming. The mountains, still holding onto many patches of snow, provided outstanding vistas.
Setting up camp in Rawlins, WY was completed just in time. Heavy winds became even stronger and it wasn't long before thunderstorms hit the area.
The one thing that we couldn't help but notice, was the fact that commerce is very much alive. The number of trucks (semis) on the roads is unreal. Coupled with the numerous stockyards and their wonderful odors permeating the area for miles, was an event we will not soon forget.
Since we're very tired after a long drive consisting of strong winds, rain, slush and mountain passes before arriving in Jackson, WY, stay tuned for more. Tomorrow we arrive in West Yellowstone.
