Anchorage - Day 2 & 3

Saturday, June 11, 2016

Woke up this morning to cloudy skies but little or no wind and 59 F.  We decided to take on those beautiful bike paths on the Chester Creek Park Greenbelt.  Good thing we did.  We were shortly greeted by this young lady

It’s amazing that this Moose can be found in this park in the middle of the city.
This park has awesome paths with a nice creek and lakes hosting many water fowl.  Views like these should entice many to get out and exercise.  At least based on the number of users on the short time here, it may be doing just that.

A point of interest not yet mentioned, is that spring is in full bloom up here.  Is this snow?

Not!  It is cotton from the Cottonwoods.  At times it seems like it is snowing out.  Needless to say, my allergies are starting all over again.

Went downtown to meet for lunch the family of a former student that now lives here in Alaska.  This student is about to enter 8th Grade so it has been a few years since he participated in Mrs. Mena’s classroom.  Since his mom was also an assistant secretary at Cedar Hill, our visit to Anchorage was not a surprise and arrangements made for this lunch.

Here are a few of the downtown scenes:

Afterwards we returned to the bike paths.  We explored a different route that took us to the shores and witnessed a very low tide and beautiful snow capped mountains across the bay.  As usual, the pictures do not do it justice.

  2. That's pretty neat to have lunch with a former student.

I'm also glad Robert is fitting in well with the wildlife.
