Great Falls to Hardin

Great Falls, MT (7/21/2016)

Two days ago we left West Glacier and the gorgeous mountains of North West Montana.  We drove to Great Falls, MT where we spent the night.

It is obvious to us that the landscape has changed and we are leaving the mountains behind.  Along with that is the temperature.  For the last couple of months the warmest we have seen is 68° F.  As we get into the valleys and decrease in altitude, the temps keep going up.  By the time we arrived and setup camp in Great Falls, it was 92°.  Little did we know that this was just a warmup (pun intended).

Hardin, MT (7/22/2016)

This morning we left camp and continued our trek south east.  The landscape also continues to change.  More farms are present and the need to feed cattle and other animals is evident by the large growing of hay.  Many, many fields are full of rolls as seen below.

We have seen wind farms before but never as close as these.  The size of each of these are misleading when seen from a distance.  They are towering at 150 ft tall.  Each blade is 90ft.

We arrived at Hardin, MT by 3 pm and a whopping 101° F.  Thank goodness there is a warm breeze and little to no humidity.  We can only imagine what folks are feeling back in Missouri.

This campground has an ice cream social each evening.  We went to be social and eat ice cream!  This is not the first campground that has offered some activity in the evening.  It is just a way for travelers to visit with each other and share experiences.  We have met many interesting folks this way.
