Maine II

A note about fall leaves: Meant to mention in last post that once we drove out of NH, the leaves had not  changed color here, in Maine.  Obviously, this is due to an abundance of pine trees, but potentially, Maine's geographic  variables.   Now that we've been here for almost 9 days, we are noticing that the leaves are just beginning to  change to their Fall colors. What a fantastic area and great place to have stayed.  The Schoodic Peninsula and specifically Winter Harbor has been spectacular.  The campground "Main Stay Cottages & RV Park" is a hidden gem!  So peaceful, quiet with  only 10 sites, all with views of the Winter Harbor Inlet.  The owners have placed Adirondack chairs on the back  of the property close to the water.  A fantastic place to sit and enjoy an afternoon adult beverage listening to the gentle waves lap the beaches as the tide goes either in or out of the bay.   Low Tide - view behind our RV The othe

Maine  Friday, September 19, 2017 We arrived in Winter Harbor, on Friday, September 15.  It was a gorgeous ride through the mountains of NH,  with vibrant colors along the route.  Arriving at the waters of Maine, reminded us of how much we missed the  ocean!  We haven't  gotten to see ocean since Alaska! The campground we're staying at is on the Schoodic Peninsula , the "quiet" side of Acadia National Park.    The town of Winter Harbor , is on an inlet that opens up into the Atlantic.  Our trailer is backed up with a view  of the inlet.  It is so quiet here, except for the boat/ship horns and the calls of the gulls!  There are lobster boats  anchored right off shore.  We are just under a half mile from The Park entrance where we have hiked, biked and picnicked several times.   Watching the waves crash against the rocks at Schoodic Point is a relaxing hypnotizing event.  Especially with  "Jose" stirring things up out in the

Hi everyone The Traveling Fools here.  This has been a very hectic trip.  We have been so busy every day that it did not leave time to write and record our travels.  Now we have time to try to catch you up on our whereabouts. We spent 3 nights on the road before arriving at Mark's family country home.  Mark & Heidi had already been there for over a week.  We backed our rig into their yard and parked next to the house.  We used a regular 15 amp connection to power the refrigerator.  Although we had some concern, it worked out great.  The nights were cool and no need for air conditioning.  In fact, the A/C was not used at night during the entire trip thus far. The night temps dropped into the 50's and in a couple of occasions, into the upper 40s. Mark & Heidi took us to their favorite hiking areas and showed us a great time.  We were surprised by the earlier than usual change of the colors on the leaves.  Here is a hike to Campbell Falls.  A nati
