Coming to an End

Hi everyone

Not much new to report since our last post.  We're getting ready to go back to work on Tuesday for our final 3 days shift.  It is unreal that it has been almost 3 months since our arrival here.  Summer flew by.

We have enjoyed the relationships with the other 3 volunteer couples here. We have rekindled a friendship with one of the couples, from our Santa Ana national wildlife refuge days, in TX.   Today we began with a "Boiled breakfast ".  It's ok, we had no idea either what it was.  Instead of explaining it, see picks below.

Also went Blackberry picking today right after the big breakfast.  All kinds of berries grow wild here and you can eat them right off the vines or take them home to make pies and jams and whatever else you desire.

We finally got lucky enough to capture this bandit that has been around for a long time right behind our RV:

Considering all the weather horror stories we have been hearing and seeing on the news, I have to admit that we are in no hurry to get back home.  Since we have not seen temps higher than 66 F all summer long, the thought of beginning our travel eastward, getting into 90s and 100s is not very appealing.  We have to leave here on the 28th to make room for new volunteers that are coming in.  We will not be in a hurry to get home.

The next post will be letting you all know of our safe arrival at our MO home.

  1. Is that a fox? Not sure about the breakfast in a bag. Sorry you've been spoiled there with weather. Now time to join the rest of the country in the sweat fest.

  4. we look forward to your return home! we have a few days of nice weather for summer - highs around 80, lows in the 50's. It will be even better by the time you return September 10. My fingers are crossed that the states you have to go through will likewise be experiencing a cooling off for your drive. love,
