Teslin

Teslin, Yukon Territory (7/6/2016)

The drive from Destruction Bay to Teslin was a beautiful one.  We drove along the Teslin River, and through the Dawson and Big Salmon Mountain Ranges.  This ride was without as many of the extreme construction and challenging road conditions.  What a difference a month makes.  Our trailer and truck still looked like we had 4 wheeled.

We got into Whitehorse and stopped for fuel.  We also had a great lunch at a Chinese restaurant.  It was fun going through Whitehorse again.  We were driving on a four lane section of the Alaska Hwy, nicely paved, when wouldn’t you know it?  A small car going in the opposite direction, threw a small rock and of course it hit our windshield.  Little star shaped ding as a souvenir.   Funny, considering the roads and extreme gravel we’ve been driving through, that we had remained unscathed till a big town. We have a windshield repair kit and will try it out.

The campground we stayed at, was on the Nitsulin Lake.  We had a beautiful view.  We’re trying to get used to the poor or non-existent cell phone service or Wi-Fi in the Yukon.

We got a good laugh at this attempt to curtail speeders.  Coming up the hill, it looks very realistic and one has to take a second look to realize you will not be getting a ticket after all
