West Glacier

West Glacier, MT

Another rainy non-stop night in Canada last night.  It finally ended by 6:30 am and gave us the opportunity to break camp and hit the road.  Just outside the resort and in town, we stopped at a quaint local café where we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast.  The owner was also the chef!

The heavy cloud cover and light rain stayed with us for most of the morning.  The ride was still beautiful because the mountains kept us entertained at every turn.  By the time we reached the US / Canada border, blue skies were visible.

Considering the small road and small border town, we were surprised to see the number of vehicles (mostly RVs) waiting to clear customs.  While waiting for our turn, we noticed a “local” that was considering waiting his turn to cross.

The only drama during the Border interview, was that we had to hand over our oranges.  No fruit brought through Canada can enter the states.  Not one question about firearms, but the oranges were confiscated.  Still, happy to be back in the USA!

We drove through Columbia Falls, an adjacent town to West Glacier.  This pic represents exactly what we’ve been seeing throughout our travels to Alaska and back

Our friends, Claude and Bobbi, arrived at the campground right after us.  We set up camp, got our awnings out, and had some adult beverages among the pine trees.  Beautiful setting!  Went for an enjoyable dinner at a local restaurant.

Tomorrow, Glacier National Park.
